Carolee came back for another visit to Asia. She plans to explore Singapore, Bali and Vietnam this trip. She spent the last few days with us in Singapore and is now in Bali.

Explored the Chinese gardens the other day. Its on the west coast of the island and we live on the east coast so it took a while to get out there. And by that I mean about 45 min...yes we live on a tiny island! I think it takes a little over an hour to get from one end of the island to the other.
Inside the gardens there was some kind of a turtle farm. With ALOT of turtles which you could also feed.
I was feeling a little sorry for all of those turtles in a tiny little pond and then I remembered that they eat turtle here so these little guys aren't living in a turtle farm its a turtle sanctuary!

Had a wonderfully bizarre encounter with the wine fairy a few days ago at the very elegant Parkview Divine Wine bar.

After much discussion Kingsley and I went through the process to apply to become permanent residents in Singapore. Word on the street is that as of late it has become incredibly difficult to actually get PR status here and we have heard story after story of friends who have lived here for years who have applied and been denied. Supposedly the chances of acceptance increase the longer you live here. So we went through the process with the thought that it was worth a try but with no expectation of actually being approved. And then suddenly we were approved... which is fantastic for so many reasons. And a little scary for some other reasons (i.e. all boys must serve 2 years in the Singapore military).

I love that an evening stroll can end up being so entertaining! I have no idea if this guy was doing it for money or just loved being in the spotlight but he drew quite a crowd.

My techie husband decided to set up his brand new GoPro camera to take a photo every 10 seconds throughout the duration of our bike ride/picnic outing yesterday. I was pretty skeptical about this style of photo documenting however with a little music I think it turned out pretty well!

Rained like crazy almost all day on Saturday which was just as well because we still had a ton of unpacking and organizing to do.

Saw this sign on the front door of an office building in Hong Kong and thought it was blog worthy!

I have said this in the past but nearly every time I go grocery shopping I find something photo worthy on the shelves and thus have to figure out how to discretely document without making a scene.
Seeing mini dried fish in the bulk food section is no big deal for me these days, but thought the sign was cute!

Normally when bread is a little green its an indication that it is not so fresh...however these days I often see green sweet buns on the grocery store shelves.

Another interesting one in the dessert category. Cream puffs made to look like real potatoes. I'm still trying to wrap my head around that one!

Don't know if this something specific to Asia or not but I have never seen or heard of Squid ink pasta before.

Another super frustrating thing about Singapore is the super high taxes on alcohol. Here is a quick glimpse into my sticker shock whenever shopping for wine...

I have to admit...I wasnt the biggest U2 fan on the planet. I enjoy the music but not so much that I HAD to see them live. However, when our friends Sunny and Prerna invited us along I knew that no matter what it would be a fun evening and I was not disappointed. The seats were great...the music amazing...a fun night out catching up with good friends was priceless!

Got to celebrate the big 3-0 in Seattle with lots of friends and family. Still in a little bit of shock about this new decade :)

No trip to Seattle is complete without PTM (Pushing it To the Max). So in addition to working, family, wedding, paragliding, shopping, friends and eating lots of Mexican food, Kingsley and I signed up for the Beat the Bridge 8k run together as well as the Issaquah Triathlon which Kingsley did while I did my first 10k run. It's funny after running and training in the heat and humidity of Singapore running almost anywhere else seems like a breeze!

We booked our flights for the Seattle trip long before ever knowing when Mark would return from his tour of duty in Afghanistan. Amazingly his return date was right in the middle of our time in Seattle. So I had the special privilege of flying down to 29 Palms (an hour outside of Palm Springs) with my parents to be there to welcome our Marine home.

I know everyone always says the bride is beautiful but Amy was truly a stunning bride. One of my favorite memories from the wedding was watching two little girls gawking at Amy and John during the pre-wedding photos. One girl turned to her mom and breathless asked "mommy which one is the princess?" The mom quietly explained "the girl in white is the princess and the man next to her is the prince." To which the other little girl responded with a wistful sigh "I hope I get to be a princess someday..."

K and I have just returned from several weeks in Seattle which was pretty awesome. Spring in Seattle is so beautiful with flowers blooming and everything so green. Geting lucky enough to have a sunny day in Seattle is enough to give us pangs of homesickness. However, the highlight of the trip was watching Amy and John get married and having a chance to catch up with the extended Wood family.
